P.R.A.Y.E.R.S. Journal for Sunday 1.18.2026

“Come and See The Joy!”

Pray:

Gracious and loving God,

Thank you for the gift of this new year and this new life.

Open our hearts and minds to experience The Good News from John 1:35-42.  Help us to come and see the joy with fresh eyes through the early disciples.  Warm our hearts with excitement and enthusiasm so that we can tell others that we have found the Messiah (that is, The Christ) and that we will bring them to Jesus.   In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen

Read: John 1:35-42

Jesus calls disciples

35 The next day John was standing again with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus walking along he said, “Look! The Lamb of God!” 37 The two disciples heard what he said, and they followed Jesus.

38 When Jesus turned and saw them following, he asked, “What are you looking for?”

They said, “Rabbi (which is translated Teacher), where are you staying?”

39 He replied, “Come and see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they remained with him that day. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon.

40 One of the two disciples who heard what John said and followed Jesus was Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter. 41 He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated Christ[c] ). 42 He led him to Jesus.

Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon, son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which is translated Peter).

Apply:

As we reflect on the passage from John 1:35-42, let us consider how its message speaks to our own journey of faith. The following questions are designed to help us explore the ways in which we can experience and share the joy of knowing Jesus, and to encourage us to think deeply about our call to follow Him and invite others along the way.

·   Who are the people in your life that you could invite to "come

    and see" Jesus?

·   What does it mean to you personally to follow Jesus, and how

    has it changed your life?

·   Where do you encounter opportunities to share the joy and

excitement of knowing Christ with others?

·   When have you experienced moments that inspired you to tell

     others about Jesus?

·   Why do you think it is important for others to come and see and

    follow Jesus?

·   How can you demonstrate the love and enthusiasm of Christ in

your daily interactions to encourage others?
