P.R.A.Y.E.R. Journal for Sunday August 11, 2024 John 6:35, 41-51, Wonder Bread for Life

P.R.A.Y.E.R. Journal for August 11, 2024

Pray:

Thank you, God, for the miracle of your unfailing love for us.   Your love feeds and nourishes us, just like a holy meal that offers us the bread and the cup. We want to be filled with you so that we can share your love with others. Amen.

Read:  John 6:35, 41-51

·      Key Verse

Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty (v/35)

Apply:

·      What is the significance of Holy Communion in your life of faith?

·      How has your understanding of this sacrament changed over time?

Yield:

We are stronger together.   When we come together and share “the bread for life” with one another, God will provide more than enough faith, hope and love to do what God has called us to do.

Engage:

How will you share the “Bread for Life” with another person that may need to hear the Good News of today’s message?

Remember:

Where have you experienced God’s presence this week?   Give God praise and thanks.  Remember this verse

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”  (v.51)

Notes:

We accept that Jesus, as the one sent from heaven, is the necessary ingredient that provides a connection to God while strengthening us in our human frailties and enabling us to live out our calling to be God’s love in the world. Having a relationship with Jesus is life-sustaining. It outweighs anything we could ever seek in this earthly life. One taste of Jesus invites us never to hunger again. We are connecting in ways that satisfy our deepest needs and most heartfelt longings. It seals our hearts forever.

One of the things we really like about travelling back from Ohio, is when we hit Highway 40 past Knoxville and we get our first glimpse of the Great Smoky Mountains, we are so happy to be Home.  We are so happy to share this Holy Meal and I am so happy to share this message with y’all. Yes, Jesus is the Wonder Bread for Life.

Let us break bread together often!
