Journey to the Cross

Updated: Feb 24, 2023

This is one of my favorite spots in the world. This cross is on Inspiration Point at Lake Junaluska, NC. Kayce and I walk around the Lake often. This view reminds us that God is always with us.

As you journey to the cross of Easter, think about the places where you feel connected to the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Then let us return to that place with our mind, body, and spirit.

Matthew 16:24-26

Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

This prayer is titled Lent in our United Methodist Hymnal #268:

O God our deliverer, you led your people of old through the wilderness and brought them to the promised land. Guide now the people of your church, that, following our Savior, we may walk through the wilderness of this world toward the glory of the world to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and forever. Amen.
