Christ is Risen

Words for Thought

Jesus says “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her. (John 20:17-18)

Pray: Living God, rejoicing in this day of resurrection, we have come to celebrate the strength of your love— a love that triumphs even over death. As we exult in the miracle of your incarnate love, we thank you for the opportunity to encounter the Risen Christ here in our midst. Amen.

Sermon Notes: John Eldridge wrote these words in his book The Way of the Wild Heart: Life does not have to be this way. We need not wonder in a fog. We don’t have to live alone, striving, sulking, uncertain or angry. We don’t have to figure out life for ourselves. There is another way. There is a better way (Eldridge 2001, 241).

· The better way is with Jesus.

· There is Victory in Jesus.

· Christ is risen indeed

Yield: We will find more joy, and more peace knowing that it is Jesus that strengthens us and reminds us that nothing is impossible with God!
